Elastos — Web3 is happening!

The world will soon see and use the new internet using Elastos Tech!

Goal:

The goal is to showcase a SmartWeb Personal Cloud Computer this year. Users could launch a Personal Cloud Computer simply by typing "http://pc2.net" (without a home node) or "pc2.local" (with a home node) in a browser—similar to how http://puter.com and http://umbrel.com work. It can't get any simpler than that, but we can all dream about its impact.

The applications running on the Personal Cloud Computer would be Digital Capsules, i.e., Web Assemblies, built on the https://Ela.City dDRM software stack. It has been almost 10 years since Ethereum introduced the concept of a World Computer. I hope we will be the first to actually build it.

The WWW vs. Yahoo and Netscape is comparable to community commons vs. for-profit ventures.

This year (2025):

"Boot up your own http://pc2.net nodes at home. The node OS will check a user's wallet address before allowing them to log in. All desktop icons represent capsule-NFTs that the user has acquired—whether free or otherwise.

Once upon a time, an article circulated in our #Elastos community about God’s Protocol. The key argument was that users cannot trust random apps, such as media players, to abide by copyright rules. However, all users and apps must trust the operating system chosen by the device owner. When a user clicks an icon, the OS verifies the NFT for access credentials. You get the idea.

Now, consider a special category of carrier-NFT in every wallet—think of them as SIM cards in your smartphone, each serving different use cases, such as work or family. It’s up to the user or capsule vendor to decide which carrier to use on demand. Imagine AT&T, Nostr, Facebook, X, the dark web, and even the good old Elastos Carrier all functioning as different types of carriers—assigning user IDs, connecting users, providing content delivery services, and more.

As long as users have choices, that is decentralization." -- Rong Chen
